School VisitsI am available as a visiting illustrator to your school. I'm experienced in events for years Reception - Year 2, doing assemblies and classroom activities based on my books.
I usually discuss the role of authors and illustrators with the children, read the story, have a Q&A, do a 'live' drawing/painting, do a collaborative drawing (with the children giving me directions) and then set an activity for the children to go to their classrooms to complete. I can then visit each class and give encouragement and feedback. My SUPERKITTY visits usually involve the children drawing their own 'superhero animal' and making up their own stories. I also have Superkitty colouring sheets. I'm based in Bristol but happy to travel, and tailor my visit based on your school's needs. Please email me at paula.bowles@gmail.com for more information, my day rate and half day rate. Bookshops and FestivalsI am experienced in events at bookshops and literature festivals, including the Newark Book Festival and Bristol's Storytale Festival.
I'm happy to discuss event plans with you, based on the size of your venue/requirements. I will dress up as Superkitty, read my books (currently SUPERKITTY!), lead a 'draw-along', do some simple face painting, and run a group craft session for ages 3-6. Please contact me at paula.bowles@gmail.com |
"Pupils and staff at the Pre-Preparatory School Clifton College really enjoyed Paula's visit. She engaged well with every year group, from the very youngest children in Nursery to our older Year 2's and adapted her craft activity, storytelling and drawing for each group of children. Seeing our pupils zooming around afterwards in their homemade superhero masks inspired by Super Kitty was a delight! "
"Paula’s visit to Filton Avenue Primary School was really fun and inspirational! She wore Superkitty clothes and gave a fabulous art display that had the children totally engaged. The children loved inventing their own Superheroes to add to the display. We now have many budding illustrators. Thank you, Paula, for a lovely day!"
